SVdP Chicago has been reaching out in our local communities throughout Cook and Lake counties for over 170 years. We have the experience of being a force of good throughout times of war, global pandemics, economic crises, and social changes. Our volunteers serve with hearts full of love and compassion and the Society helps anyone regardless of race, religion, political association, or gender.

We’ve fed countless in need in Chicago and the suburban communities through our food pantries, holiday meal baskets, community dinners, and other local events.
We’ve clothed the homeless, struggling young families, and Veterans trying to make it during rough patches in their lives.
We’ve housed those on the brink or in the midst of homelessness through referrals to shelters, locating affordable housing, or paying rent during a short-term set-back. And we’ve continually offered hope to the most vulnerable in our communities when they’ve no place else to turn.

Matching Gifts from Employers

Gifts of Stock
Transfers of appreciated stock are an efficient way to support St. Vincent de Paul while also avoiding capital gains taxes. You can give any stock that you have held for more than one year.

If you would like to make a stock donation, please contact Elvia at our Central Office at 773-779-6700 ext. 107 or you can email Elvia at elvia@svdpchicago.org to notify us of your gift, including the name of the company stock, number of shares and your contact information so we can send you a receipt for your taxes. A stock transfer can be made to St. Vincent de Paul through your own broker.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
If you are 72 ½ years or older, you can give up to $100,000 directly to St. Vincent de Paul Chicago from your IRA without paying taxes on the money. This counts towards your “Required Minimum Distribution” (RMD). You will immediately benefit from tax savings, and you will get to jump-start your legacy and while also seeing the impact of your donation.

Charitable Lead Trusts
You establish a trust from which St. Vincent de Paul Chicago receives annual payouts for a period of years, and at the end of the term, the remaining assets go to a named beneficiary. This allows you to benefit from tax savings without giving up the assets that you want your family to ultimately receive.
