God Bless Queen Elizabeth II
Yesterday, at the age of 96, Britain lost a Queen, a Mother, a Grandmother a Great-Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. She was Britain’s longest reigning Monarch spending 70 years on the throne.
The Queen was associated with over 600 charities throughout the UK. Besides charitable donations, she was also a public spokeswoman or president of some of these organizations. . She was an integral part of many public and service organizations.

Feast of the Nativity of Mary
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. As Vincentians, we have a devotion to Mary thanks to our founder Blessed Frederic Ozanam insisting she become our Society’s patroness. Frederic Ozanam had a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, from his youth to his death. Frederic was insistent that the Society take Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception as its patroness. Fittingly, today also marks the day Blessed Frederic Ozanam left this world in 1853. Let’s take a moment to remember both Our Lord’s mother and Blessed Frederic Ozanam today. 39 Years of Service as a Vincentian – Ed Stachon Is One of a Kind
As a Vincentian for thirty-nine years it has been a blessing to service our Friends of the Poor on the Northwest side of the Archdiocese of Chicago and in Cook County, Lake County and the Southside.
It has been a path of spirituality and service in the Society as an associate, member and conference president and now treasurer of St. Pascal Conference which has a pantry and gives out clothing.
Through mentors and spiritual advisors I moved to the Chicago Council board as District VII and VIII President for two terms, then Vice-President on the board for one term. In 1990 I chaired the Special Works Program which included Meals for the Needy and Survival Pack to serve hot food and sandwich for the needy for many years. This has given a better love of what we do for each other and the needy.
It was my privilege to be part of Chicago’s hosting the 2005 National Meeting as co-chair on the Liturgy/Mass committee. This was a time to grow by sharing in spiritualty, workshops and friendship with other Vincentians throughout the country.
The big change for me was in 2006 when I became part of the education training of Vincentian through Formation Training which includes webinar and zoom training through OZAMAN ORIENTATION and other education on the spiritualty, rule and history of the Society and a better understanding and service of our Friends in Need.
In closing, all of this is steamed from our Vincentian spirituality, leadership, love of each member and outreach to the Friends of the Poor!
St. Vincent and Blessed Frederic bless us.
